This was predictable (sadly), once the magazine announced that they were going under (well, a buyout still might be possible) I was ready for this announcement. All past issues are now available in PDF format. Go grab them while they are up and archive them someplace. Pull them out when you are looking for some photographic inspiration.

I am really looking forward to news from them that they have been acquired versus shutting down. From their blog, seems like they have a couple of options that they are considering…coolio!

2008: Year in pictures

Towards the end of the year, several news outfits put out their “year in pictures” catalog. These not only serve as a reminder of things past but also remind us of our strength and resiliency.

Over the next few weeks, expect a few more posts on the same theme.

This particular one from MSNBC has audio as well, so turn down those speakers if you are in a meeting!

New lens alignment system for SLRs

I’ve written about Jeffrey Friedl’s awesome focus test charts. Today Jeffrey announced on his blog that he has been working with a company to get his focus chart system, along with a lens alignment, combined into a product called the “LensAlign Focus Calibration System”. The product can be ordered from the company’s website.

Special thanks goes out to Jeffrey for his continued efforts in getting these nuggets out.

Testing SLR autofocus

Image via WikipediaIf you have a sneaky suspicion that your SLR is not capturing your perfect moments that perfectly then you might be suffering from the dreaded SLR autofocus issue. This is where the cameras built-in autofocus mechanism does not do a good job and you suffer from either back or front focus issues. Jeffrie’s excellent blog entry does a much better job explaining this. Awesome post…..give it a read.
